Best Resolutions for Video Uploads

/Best Resolutions for Video Uploads

A few people have asked me recently about resolutions when uploading to sites such as Youtube or Vimeo. Specifically, what’s best?

What’s best is whatever you feel is right, but it’s important to get the aspect ratio correct. Most video sharing sites are now using the 16:9 letterbox format, which means if you don’t set the project resolution correctly, you’re going to see some nasty black borders on your uploaded media.

Here’s the resolutions you’ll need:

  • 1080p: 1920×1080
  • 720p: 1280×720
  • 480p: 854×480
  • 360p: 640×360
  • 240p: 426×240
